David Ogilvy* once gave his board of directors a group of Russian nesting dolls. Attached to these dolls, that got progressively smaller with each one that was opened, was this note: “If each of us hires people who are smaller than we are, we shall become a company of dwarfs. But if each of us hires people who are bigger than we are, we shall become a company of giants.”
